Balochistan Officials file Reports in Supreme Court

The Supreme Court of Pakistan heard its suo motto notice of discovery of a mass grave in Balochistanโ€™s Khuzdar area from where 13 bodies were recovered, media reported.

Chief Justice Tassaduq Hussain Jailani had taken suo moto notice on Saturday seeking a report from IGP Balochistan and Deputy Commissioner (DC) Khuzdar.

Today, a three-member bench headed by the chief justice heard the case in the apex court wherein DC Khuzdar submitted a report, stating that 11 more bodies were recovered from the mass grave on the indication of a local shepherd who informed the DC.

The report said two of the victims have been identified as Qadir Bux and Naseer Ahmed and that the bodies have been handed over to the victimsโ€™ heirs.

In his report, the DC said the recovered bodies have been kept at Civil Hospital Khuzdar and samples for the DNA test have been collected.

Secretary Balochistan also turned up in the hearing and apprised the court that a four-member medical board has been constituted for identification of the bodies.

He said that the Balochistan government has set up a tribunal to conduct an inquiry into the discovery of a mass grave. The tribunal will submit its report within 30 days. Justice Noor Muhammad, a judge of the Balochsitan High Court, will be heading the inquiry tribunal.

The court later adjourned the hearing till March 7.

According to a Supreme Courtโ€™s statement issued last week, the chief justice took notice of the issue because of a statement of Voice for Balochistan Missing Person chief Nasrullah Baloch who had said that three of the 13 bodies discovered from the grave were of missing persons.
