At least 12 people were killed and more than 20 injured when explosion ripped through a busy market place in Nowshera city..
Officials said the blast took place at Risalpur Chowk near old custom house, which according to officials killed 12 people and wounded at least two dozen.
“It was triggered by a remote-controlled device planted in a cycle,” DPO Nowshera, Muhammad Hussain, told reporters at the blast site. He said the blast occurred after Iftar when the people were busy in Eid shopping at the bazaar.
Area people thronged to the spot while police and rescue teams shifted those dead and injured to hospitals where emergency was declared.
The death toll may rise as authorities say the blast was of high intensity. The bomb disposal squad inspected the site and collected evidences to determine nature of the blast.
Nowshera is a district in the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province, 103 kilometres (64.2 miles) from Islamabad.
