The cellular phone services would remain blocked from 8am to 10pm in various cities including Karachi, Lahore Quetta, and Islamabad, Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) said in a notification.

Pillion riding is also banned in sensitive areas of the country including Karachi, Lahore and Quetta.

The mobile phone services are blocked in six districts of Sindh, six districts of Khyber Pakhunkhwa, 18 districts of Punjab, nine districts of Balochistan and Gilgit Baltistan.

โ€œThe decision to suspend mobile phone services was taken as there were intelligence reports that terrorists have planned to carry out widespread target killings and trigger off remote-controlled explosives,โ€ a source in Federal Interior Ministry said.
