Contempt Law Case Hearing Resumes (Supreme Court)

Supreme CourtFive-member bench of the Supreme Court (SC) resumed hearing numerous identical petitions filed against new Contempt of Court Law 2012, Media reports Friday.

Petitioners will complete their arguments today.

In previous hearing, the petitioner, Sheikh Ehsanud Din, President Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bar read out the proceedings of the Parliament in connection with the passage of the Amendment of Contempt of Court Act.

Justice Jawwad S. Khwaja said the parliamentary proceedings are protected under Article-69 of the Constitution and the court cannot review it; but, the court is hearing the proceedings only in order to get help for explanation.
