A large number of JD activists participated in the funeral organised at Nasser Bagh.

Addressing the participants before the prayer, Jamatud Dawa leader Hafiz Abdul Rehman Makki said Mullah was punished for his love for Pakistan.

He said that he was hanged with Indian support.

“India is afraid of the strength of jihadi organisations after the US defeat in Afghanistan,” he said.

Makki said several jihadi organisations had roots in Bangladesh and India. “The government in Bangladesh wants to pressure these organisations.”

The Jamatud Dawa leader also condemned the Pakistani government leaders for their statements in favour of an MFN status for better trade ties.

He said the city roads were in bad shape but the government was more interested in constructing highways leading to Wagha and Ganda Singh Wala borders.

He said a jihad against India would be waged to liberate the territories it was occupying illegally since 1947.

Jamat-i-Islami leader Hafiz Muhammad Idrees said Abdul Qadir Mullah had sacrificed his life for Pakistan.

He said he had been his friend since college days when they were Islami Jamiat Tulaba members.

“His hanging has further strengthened jihadi organisations,” he said.

Jamatud Dawa Hurmat-i-Rasool Committee Convener Ameer Hamza said Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif should have raised the issue of Mullah’s hanging with his Bangladeshi counterpart.

He said the government of Pakistan should file a murder case against Haseena Wajid, the prime minister of Bangladesh.
