The two sides should spare no efforts to continue campaign against drug trafficking and terrorism, he said, adding that such cooperation would be to the benefit of both nations and the entire region as a whole.

Iran fully backs development and security of Pakistan and believes that the two countries can protect the security of the region, the President said.

“The existing relationship between Tehran and Islamabad is excellent and no one can harm it,” Fars quoted Ahmadinejad as saying in meeting with Malik on Wednesday.

President described ties between two countries as “deeply-rooted, historical and cultural. There are suitable grounds for expansion of all-out ties as well as regional cooperation. Growing ties would help bolster peace and stability in the region.”

Pakistan Interior Minister, for his part, called for expansion of friendly relations between two countries.

“Pakistan will uphold ties with Islamic Republic of Iran using all its potentials. Pakistan always backs Iran’s legitimate rights and never lets any third country take action against Iran through its soil,” he added.

Lauding humanitarian aid dispatched by Iran’s government and nation for flood victims, he said Pakistani people would never forget Iranian support.
