The demand came in the wake of the latest drone attack on Friday in North Waziristan which killed at least 25 people.

In a telephonic address, the MQM chief also asked the government to hold a referendum against the attacks. He said that the attacks were on-going despite a countrywide protest against them.

Altaf Hussain also appealed to all religious and political parties to unite on the issue.

The United States has been using drones to target al Qaeda and Taliban militants over the past few years in Pakistanโ€™s tribal areas.
