Imran took the lead in first half with a goal on penalty corner and in the second half, Abbas finalized his team’s victory with a goal on penalty Corner.

Argentina scrambled through the match to control the match; however, each of their  sorties was foiled by Pakistan’s impregnable defence.

It should be mentioned here that Sohail has now a record of 346 goals, that has made him the World’s highest hockey goal scorer and highest ever in Olympics. This is the first goal of Muhammed Imran in international hockey.

Pakistan’s draw with Spain in the opening match had earlier raised a little ray of hope among the hockey lovers that Pakistan can stand on the podium this time around. So, the Green Shirts’ prospects are brighter after this win against Argentina.

Argentineans hit the ground with mauled confidence after they were crashed by the hosts Great Britain 4-1 in their opening match.

Now, Pakistan will take on Britain in its next match on Friday at 8pm PST.

It is important to note here that Pakistan clinched at least ten medals in history of Olympic hockey since its debut in 1948. Of these 10 medals, three were gold medals, three silver and four bronze.
