Pakistan Defeat in 1st South Africa T20 Match

Heavy rain washed away the chase of Pakistan as South Africa was declared victorious by four runs under Duckworth Lewis method in the first Twenty20 played at New Wanderers Stadium here.

Pakistan won the toss and opted to put the Proteas in. Kock was the top scorer who hit 43 runs off 33 balls with the help of eight 4s followed by Hashim Amla (31) and Plessis (22). Getting off the ground in top gear, South Africa set Pakistan a target of 153-run target.

Junaid Khan and Muhammed Hafeez claimed two wickets each. Bilawal Bhatti and Shahid Afridi also got one wicket each. But, the seamless bowling attack by Pakistan could not restrict the Proteas who started off churning the runs at a blistering speed.

In their innings, Pakistan failed to put together a good show. Pakistan’s batting-line crumbled as Nasir Jamshed was the top scorer with only 18 runs followed by Muhammed Hafeez (not out) who scored 13 runs. The four batsmen managed to push the score to 60 inclusive of 13 extras, when heavy rain started causing the match to be called off.

The Proteas were declared winners by four runs on D/L method. Duminy and Tsotsobe got one wicket each.
