Federal Information and Broadcasting Minister today called upon Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan to shun his ego and return to Parliament to back government’s efforts to end horse-trading in upcoming Senate’s polls.

His comments came hours after Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif expressed his deep concern over reports of alleged use of money and influence for the forthcoming Senate elections.

The prime minister directed his cabinet to take immediate steps to make the process transparent, fair and in accordance with the democratic norms. He also stressed upon ensuring that there was no horse-trading or use of money in the elections.

The cabinet decided that other political parties would be contacted in this regard and if necessary, amendments in the Constitution and laws would be completed prior to the Senate elections, a press release said.

“Government requires cooperation from political parties to end the culture of horse-trading in Parliament,” Rashid said, noting that PTI was most affected by horse-trading in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The federal minister described the terrorism as the biggest challenge being faced by Pakistan. “Unfortunately, our innocent kids are also aware of suicide vests,” he regretted.

He further said that there was need to deal with the mindsets that were using suicide vests.
