Petroleum Minister says Govt Decides to Slash Petrol Prices

After strong reaction from different circles of people, the government has resolved to decrease POL and CNG prices. The summary in this connection has been sent to Finance Ministry, media reports.

Petroleum Minister Dr. Asim Hussain held meeting with President Asif Ali Zardari in Karachi. Later, he told media that the government would provide masses with relief on petroleum products.

A summary seeking slash in petroleum levy has been sent to Finance Ministry which is authority to notify decline in POL prices, he informed.

He said the government does not control prices of petroleum product, fearing that the coming days may witness further rise in prices of the petroleum products.

The government wants to relieve masses of inflation but it is helpless, he added.
