Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani called up various political leaders, including Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) chief Altaf Hussain and Awami National Party (ANP) President Asfandyar Wali Khan, in a bid to quell the latest wave of violence in Karachi.

The Prime Minister discussed the prevailing law and order situation of Karachi with Asfandyar Ali, Sindh Chief Minister Syed Qaim Ali Shah, Federal Interior Minister Rehman A. Malik and MQM chief Altaf Hussain.

He directed the Interior Minister to fly to Karachi to restore calm in the country’s commercial hub.

PM Gilani appealed to all political leaders to jointly work in sync to establish peace in the metropolitan city and urged all political workers to stay calm.
