PM Yousuf Raza Gilani to be Indicted in Contempt Case Live

Prime Minister Syed Yousuf Raza Gilani will appear before the Supreme Court (SC) today to be indicted in contempt of court case, Media Reported.

Yousuf Raza GilaniThe security around the SC building is high alert and protocol staff of the prime minister arrived at the building to review the arrangements. Bomb disposal squad also cleared the venue.

08:35 am: ANP chief Asfandyar Wali arrives at the SC building. Upon his arrival he said I am with Yousuf Raza Gilani.

08:39 am: Federal Information Minister Firdous Ashiq Awan reaches.

08:40 am: PML-Q Chief Chaudhry Shujaat arrives to hear the proceedings.

08:42 am: Federal Minister for Water and Power Syed Naveed Qamar arrives.

08:45 am: Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, PM’s counsel, leaves home. While talking to media he said contempt proceedings are unique in nature. We are going to defend the prime minister. The court will ask after framing the charges either you accept them or not.

08:48 am: Minister for Religious Affairs Syed Khursheed Shah reaches the SC building.

09:10 am: Defence Minister Chaudhry Ahmad Mukhtar arrives.

09:14 am: PPP Secretary Information Qamar Zaman Kaira reaches the SC premises.

09:16 am: The convoy of PM Gilani left Prime Minister House.

The SC on February 10 dismissed an intra court appeal (ICA) seeking suspension of proceedings for framing of charges against the prime minister, scheduled for February 13.

A seven-member larger Bench of Supreme Court headed by Justice Nasir-ul-Mulk and comprising Justice Asif Saeed Khan Khosa, Justice Sarmad Jalal Osmani, Justice Ijaz Afzal Khan, Justice Ijaz Ahmed Chaudhry, Justice Gulzar Ahmed and Justice Athar Saeed will hear the contempt of court case.

The apex court is all set to frame charges against the Prime Minister in contempt of Court case for not implementing the SC verdict on NRO despite several warnings.

Heads of the coalition parties would accompany the prime minister. The SC administration has issued 50 passes to the prime minister secretariat.
