Voicing serious apprehensions regarding the next couple of days, Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Chief Altaf Hussain made a strong pitch for the country to be protected at all costs and sacrifices, whatever required.

Talking exclusively to media in today’s small hours, Altaf Hussain said it was time alone to reveal yet if Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif visited China or fled the country, emphasizing that the leaders, who desert the country, had no right to rule this land.

The country, he was of the view, is being subjected to ego, as no meaningful dialogues were held with the participants of the Islamabad sit-in. He informed that country incurrrd loss worth over Rs.80 billion; but, no magnanimity was being manifested.

Under the circumstances, the citizens usually start looking up to Pakistan Army, he submitted adding however, the armed forces were engrossed in Operation Zarb-e-Azb; hence, the other issues should not be brought to the fore for attention of the armed forces.

Muttahida chief took the view that if an unconstitutional step could be taken up by invoking Article-6 of the Constitution, martial law could also be imposed.

Commenting on a news story regarding Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif’s China visit amidst tense situation back at home, Altaf Hussain bristled at the CM, saying the rulers shunned foreign trips, if the country was faced with a calamity. Only the time will tell if he had visited China or had fled the country.

“I had already warned nation about the imminent hazards; now, I am informing them again  other threats, too,” he added.

In an earlier statement issued from the MQM’s International Secretariat in London, he urged every citizen to raise hands in prayers to God to save Pakistan, saying, “The people should relocate themselves to safer positions in post-midnight stretch and not leave their houses except for some unavoidable necessity.”

In foresight, he underscored, he was eyeing massive bloodletting; hence, everyone should exercise extreme caution.

The Muttahida chief asserted it was high time that sacrifices are rendered in order to protect the country, adding his party was raring to give away all 25 seats in case anyone was in a position to form the government.

“I am primed to resign from all of 25 seats, if so required to terminate the potential air of bedlam in the country,” he announced, demanding Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) to immediately hold the general polls.

Explaining his bold initiative, Altaf Hussain argued, “I was seeing an unconstitutional step taking place,” adding, under the circumstances, the integrity of the county could be bulwarked by giving sacrifices alone.

The Muttahida would not contest elections in 25 seats, which it vacated, he vowed, maintaining, “We do not want throne. Instead, we want the resolution of problems of people. The members of Coordination Committee are contacting every stakeholder for the purpose.”

The MQM chief brushed aside as ‘joke’ the demand of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan regarding Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s 30-day resignation. He said some permanent solution was vital for a way out from the crisis.
