Karachi Blast leaves 2 Including a Soldier Dead

A bomb attack on Pakistan Army cavalcade left two people including a soldier dead as they were leaving after election duties at polling stations in Korangi, media reported Friday.

A time-device bomb that was rigged to a telephone pylon, went off with a loud bang at a time when soldiers were returning to Malir from Korangi. The blast was heard far and wide.

The personnel of Pak Army and the rangers immediately cordoned off the blast area littered with devastation signs. Ambulances rushed to the blast site and shifted the injured to hospital.

According to hospital sources, at least two people including a soldier lost their lives in the bombing and 23 persons including 11 army personnel sustained injuries.

Ten soldiers are being given medical treatment at PNS Shifa. As many as 23 wounded were brought to Jinnah Hospital.

Meantime, bomb disposal squad recovered another bomb near the blast site. The bomb has been neutralized.

According to SP Korangi Irfan Bhutto, the bomb readied in a brick, was eight to ten kilogram in weight with ball-bearings stuffed in large quantity.
