Few top legal brains of the country including Advocate Ahmad Raza Kasoori, Justice (retd) Tariq Mehmood, Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan, former law minister Maula Bukhsh Chandio, and Lt. Gen. (retd) Moeen-ud-Din Haider expressed their views over sudden sickness and future of the former president Pervez Musharraf on news TV’s Current Affairs’ Show Nadeem Malik Live on Thursday.

Pervez Musharraf’s legal aide, Advocate Ahmad Raza Kasoori, told that former president has been admitted in Armed Forces Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases (AFICD) and doctors have imposed restriction on meeting with him.

Replying to a question, Kasoori said they will demand immunity, regarding personal appearance, from the court on next hearing for Pervez Musharraf, if he would not recover, and the court would grant relief under the presented arguments and proofs in support of the appeal.

“It is his legal right to go abroad for treatment and he would certainly avail this option, to leave for any foreign country, if needed,” added Musharraf’s counsel, saying at the moment he cannot say anything for sure.

Barrister Aitzaz Ahsan commented that Pervez Musharraf could be allowed to travel abroad for treatment on approval of the medical board but only one medical board’s approval will not be enough for the permission from the court as there are few more hurdles also present to halt his departure to any foreign country.

“If Pervez Musharraf will get this facility to go abroad for treatment, despite all these serious cases, then the court will have to grant this type of permission to every inmate in the future,” opined Aitzaz Ahsan.

Justice (retd) Tariq Mehmood stressed that former president Pervez Musharraf could get permission from the court for going abroad to get needful medical assistance, if medical board would approve his departure.

“The court will have to grant permission for removal of Musharraf’s name form the Exit Control List (ECL) when the medical board will suggest treatment abroad for him,” he added, saying Musharraf can take part in hearing of the case through a video-link from anywhere.

Former law minister Maula Bukhsh Chandio observed that the current regime will bear scar and Nawaz Sharif along with his regime would face negative effects of rendering any relaxation to former general Pervez Musharraf.

“Pakistan Army is our own force and we salute it for the role played by it during last regime of the PPP,” commented the PPP leader, adding institutes’ action against the Constitution violators will restore trust of the public.

Former Sindh governor and top army officer, Lt. Gen. (retd) Moeen-ud-Din Haider tipped in his views that the army personnel are watching all proceedings against their former chief, Pervez Musharraf, in this treason case and it is likely that they would not appreciate any punishment to him.

“Treason case proceedings are underway in the court against Pervez Musharraf and the regime cannot interfere into that but any punishment to the former army chief would create impact on Pakistan Army,” added Moeen-ud-Din Haider.
