A protest sit-in convened at Faizabad Interchange of Rawalpindi and Islamabad against Lahore’s Model Town tragedy in which at least eight people were martyred, has been called off, media reported Wednesday.

Following the announcement regarding the termination of the sit-in, the PAT workers dispersed peacefully.

It should be mentioned here that the PAT Rawalpindi protested and staged a sit-in against the Lahore tragedy at Faizabad Interchange. The demonstrators demanded that the perpetrators of the Tuesday’s massacre should be brought to book.

Strict security arrangements were in place at Faizabad sit-in with heavy police presence.

The sit-in caused complete blockage of traffic plying from Murree to Rawalpindi. However, Expressway leading from Rawalpindi to Murree remained open for traffic flow.

PAT leader Umar Riaz Abbasi said his party got their protest peacefully registered and demanded that action should be taken against those responsible for the incident.
