Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) leader Shah Mehmood Qureshi said the talks with the Jirga of the Opposition parties, will again be held at the residence of Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader Rehman A. Malik at 4pm today.

Talking to media after the negotiations at the residence of PTI leader Jahangir Tareen, he said the talks have been commenced at the behest of the Jirga. He thanked the members of the Jirga of the opposition parties, asserting Jirga is making efforts to end the deadlock in the negotiations.

Qureshi was of the view that the PTI tabled its stance, which was well heard by the members of the Jirga.

Later, Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) chief Siraj-ul-Haq took the mic and said the criticality of the situation put the entire nation on tenterhooks, adding however, the negotiations had been kicked off afresh to end the stalemate.

Expressing the hope for a way out from the prevalent political standoff, Haq exhorted the parties to give peace a chance.

Trying to strike a chord with the protesters who are on roads for over two weeks for the denied rights of all Pakistanis, Rehman A. Malik maintained the participants of the sit-in are Pakistanis and denounce violence.

Malik furthermore added the decision to break the deadlock should not be misconstrued as weakness. He demanded the government to free all the detained workers of Pakistan Awami Tehreek (PAT) and the PTI.

He appreciated Siraj for his untiring efforts for conciliation, saying the JI ameer worked day in and day out for the resolution of the issue. He emphasized that nation sought the issue be resolved. Malik also hoped, โ€œGiven the present pace of dialogue, that nation will witness a positive outcome of these reconciliation efforts.
